Downey sends 640 pins flying Published in the Town News - 1/26/05 Tim Downey posted the second highest three-game pin fall of 640 in the NNJIL bowling competition on Friday but the Crusaders dropped a 5-2 decision to Clifton. Downey had the high game of 255 while his teammate Spencer Ciccia turned in the second highest single game score of 246.

Joe Trause packed up and planted Jake Weinberg 20 seconds into the 103-pound bout for the fastest fall as Bergen Catholic defeated Paramus 35-24 in an NNJIL wrestling match on Friday. Derek Scicles (145-pounds) also pinned for the Crusaders who remained unbeaten after five dual matches. Bergen Catholic skated to a 3-1 victory over Pope John in a NNJIHL - Gordon Conference contest as the Cruaders improved to 8-5-2. Brian Giblin, Nick Ianora and Brian Scholtz netted the goals with Nick Fiumifreddo, Scott McKinley and Mark Znutas picking assists. Goalie Ryan Carroll was credited with 24 saves. Chris Wilk raced to a fourth place finish in the 600-yard run at the Ridgewood Winter Games II held at Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York. Wilk was clocked in 1:18.9 while his teammate Stai Sean Lyew hopped, stepped and jumped 39 feet, 6 ¼ inches to place sixth in the triple jump.
